Asthma Camp Donation

Guest Bartender Night 2017

This event was held at Tyler's in Pike Creek on March 23rd 2017. The night  raised $3900 for the ALA and DSRC. Thanks to all who volunteered and participated in this exciting event. We are already making plans for next years event.

On June 10 2016, the Delaware Society for Respiratory care donated $1000 to the American Lung Association for its 2016 Asthma Camp. The money was raised through ticket sales from a Crab and Shrimp Feast raffle. This year's asthma camp is once again being held the Children's Beach House in Lewes, Delaware on July 9-10, 2016.

Gifts to Respiratory Care Students at Delaware Technical Community College

The DSRC continues its annual tradition of purchasing a one-year AARC membership for each student graduating from the Respiratory Care programs at Del Tech’s Wilmington and Georgetown campuses.

Asthma Camp

The DSRC works closely with the American Lung Association of Delaware to coordinate summer asthma camps in Delaware. These camps are for 7-11 year olds with a diagnosis of moderate to severe asthma. Campers learn about asthma triggers and discover tools to manage their asthma while participating in typical summer camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, arts, crafts and field trips.  Registration is $50; scholarships are available. Space is limited.

Parents feel comfortable leaving their children at these camps because the staff is mostly health care providers. Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Respiratory Care students supervise the children, provide asthma education, and treatment if necessary. The goal is for the kids to leave the camp talking about the great time they had and empowered to manage their asthma with the help of their parents.
